About the District

The primary purpose and function of the Chaparral Pointe Metro District, which is an independent “quasi-governmental” entity with taxing authority, is to finance the construction of and maintain public improvements such as roads, street lighting, sewer and water lines, storm drainage, etc., for the benefit of taxpayers who reside within the District.

On September 11, 2018, the Colorado Springs City Council approved the District’s service plan and the Chaparral Pointe Metro District was established as a taxing authority. On June 24, 2021, the issuance of a bond for $1,350,000 was approved to fund the above construction and services. Mill levies are imposed by the taxing authority (Metro District), against assessed property values in the District, in order to pay the bond debt.
